Adding early childhood workers to our growing Sunday classrooms

Adding early childhood workers to our growing Sunday classrooms

We are thrilled to share the exciting growth our Sunday gatherings have experienced over the past six months, particularly in our nursery, preschool, and elementary-aged classrooms! As we strive to enhance our kids' church experience, we are actively seeking both paid and volunteer early childhood professionals to enrich our Sunday morning spiritual formation time. We're delighted to announce that…

Understanding the Sermon on the Mount For Today

Understanding the Sermon on the Mount For Today

For the past several weeks we have focused on exploring Jesus' central teachings in the “sermon on the mount,” found in Matthew chapters 5-7. This has been a broad overview intended to help us understand the big picture of Jesus’ core message. It turns out, Jesus’ sermon also helps answer two big questions many people are asking about Christianity today:

"Extend: Embracing Community Beyond Sunday Mornings"

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it's easy to confine our church involvement to the hours we spend together on Sunday mornings. However, this week, we invite you to embrace the spirit of "Extend" by participating in our after-church events: the Queer Committee Meeting and the Laguna Dinner and Dialogue.

Queer Committee Meeting TBD

Subject to change!

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM - OSC

At the heart of our church's values lies a commitment to inclusivity and acceptance of all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Our Queer Committee Meeting provides a platform for open dialogue, advocacy, and support within our community.

The Laguna Dinner and Dialogue: Building Connections Over Shared Meals

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM - Laguna Hills

Join us for an evening of delicious food and engaging conversation as we gather in Laguna to discuss topics ranging from faith and spirituality to current events and community outreach initiatives. It's a chance to connect on a deeper level and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a community.

Extend Your Sunday Mornings: Get Involved Today

As we strive to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive community, we encourage you to extend your Sunday mornings by participating in these after-church events. Whether you attend the Queer Committee Meeting, join us for dinner in Laguna, or both, your presence and participation are invaluable contributions to the tapestry of our church community.

So, why not extend your Sunday mornings this week? Step out of your comfort zone, engage with your fellow church members, and embrace the opportunity to deepen your connections and expand your horizons. Together, let's continue to journey towards a more inclusive, compassionate, and connected community.

Blessings,

Oceanside Sanctuary

🐣 Serving with Children's Ministry this Easter Sunday: Your Opportunity to Make a Difference 🌷

Are you looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Easter this year? Look no further! Our Children's Ministry is calling for volunteers to join us in creating a memorable and uplifting experience for our youngest members on Easter Sunday.

Why Serve with Children's Ministry on Easter Sunday?

Easter is a time of hope, renewal, and celebration, and what better way to embody these values than by serving our community's children? As a volunteer in our Children's Ministry, you'll have the opportunity to:

🎨 Make a Lasting Impact: Engage with children and help them understand the true meaning of Easter through interactive lessons, crafts, and activities.

🤗 Create a Safe and Nurturing Environment: Ensure that our youngest members feel welcomed, cared for, and secure as they participate in Easter festivities.

🌟 Share the Joy of Easter: Experience the joy and wonder of Easter through the eyes of children as they learn and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

What Does Volunteering Involve?

Volunteering with our Children's Ministry on Easter Sunday is a fulfilling and rewarding experience. However, it's essential to note that all volunteers must undergo a background check to ensure the safety and well-being of our children. This is a standard procedure that demonstrates our commitment to creating a secure environment for all members of our community.

As a volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to assist with various tasks, including:

  • Leading Easter-themed activities and crafts

  • Facilitating age-appropriate discussions about the significance of Easter

  • Providing supervision and support during children's programming

  • Assisting with setup, cleanup, and logistics as needed

How Can You Get Involved?

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, young adult, or anyone with a heart for children, we welcome your involvement! 💖👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

If you're interested in volunteering, please reach out to Children’s Minister - Claire Watson (claire@oceansidesanctuary.org) or simply submit your info below!

Your commitment to this ministry is invaluable, and we're grateful for your willingness to make a difference in the lives of our children. 🙌🌈

Get Grounded In Volunteering

Hello, dear members of our church community!

As we continue to grow and thrive together, we're excited to extend an invitation to all of you to join us in serving our congregation and community in various capacities. Volunteering is not just an act of service, but also a wonderful opportunity to connect with one another and spread the love and warmth that define our church family.

👧👦 Kids and Youth Team: Our kids and youth programs are all growing thanks to the incredible support of our OSC community! We are in need of volunteers to help care for and guide our babies, toddlers, elementary, and middle schoolers on Sunday mornings. Volunteers typically serve once a month and work with another volunteer to lead kids in a craft or activity after they are released from the sanctuary. Email claire@oceansidesanctuary.org if you are interested!

🍽️ Hospitality and Welcome Team: We believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and embraced. If you have a knack for making others feel at home, consider joining our Hospitality and Welcome Team. From greeting newcomers to assisting with refreshments, your warm smile can make all the difference.

🛡️ Safety Team: Ensuring the safety and security of our church community is of utmost importance to us. If you have a background in security or simply a commitment to keeping our congregation safe, we invite you to join our Safety Team. From monitoring entrances to responding to emergencies, your vigilance is invaluable.

No matter your skills or availability, there's a place for you to serve and make a meaningful impact. Volunteering is not only an opportunity to give back but also a chance to grow personally and spiritually as you connect with others and share in the joy of serving.

If you're interested in volunteering for any of these teams or would like more information, please don't hesitate to reach out to gianna@oceansidesanctuary.org or submit the form below. Together, let's continue to spread love, kindness, and grace within our church and beyond.

Thank you for considering this call to serve. We look forward to welcoming you to our volunteer teams!

As I shared on Sunday, during Lent, we take forty days to commune with Jesus in his time of fasting in the desert. Lent is typically a time to abstain from vices like chocolate, media, video games, or alcohol. Giving up something can be a great way to keep Christ’s death and resurrection on our minds until Easter and bring richness to our year. However, with a finite amount of time in our day, sometimes adding a spiritual practice
